The Keewatin Public Utilities is responsible for Electricity, Water, Sewer and Garbage within the City of Keewatin.

Office hours are from 7:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M.

Rules Regulating Public Utilities Customers

Deposits Required as Follows:

  • Homeowners
  • $150.00 plus $10.00 User fee
  • Renters
  • $400.00 plus $10.00 User fee
  • Mobile Homes
  • $400.00 plus $10.00 User fee
  • Commercial
  • $300.00 plus $10.00 User fee

Payments can either be made in person during regular office hours, mailed or be paid online. There is a drop box for your convenience located next to the City Hall door. (Please do not enclose cash.)

A minimum charge of $5.00 per month will be charged on all electric meters if usage is less than $5.00 per month.

Utility bills will include charges for electricity, water, sewer and garbage.

Garbage is picked up on Wednesdays and a 64 gallon roll out cart is provided for each residence. Any extra garbage that does not fit into this container must be tagged with a garbage tag.

Garbage tags are sold at the Public Utilities Office for $1.92 each. Tags can be purchased during regular office hours. Tags are also available at The Keewatin Sinclair.

Electric meters will be read the last five (5) working days of each month.

Bills will be mailed by the third (3rd) working day of the month.

Homeowner's bills must be paid in full by the 25th of each month.

Renters and Commercial bills must be paid in full by the 25th of each month.

Past due accounts will be disconnected on the 16th of the following month. 

A reconnect charge of  $100.00 will be charged to anyone who has service disconnected.

A $25.00 penalty charge will be assessed on all unpaid bills on the 26th of each month.

Recyclables are picked up in the alleys on the Second and Fourth Mondays of each month.

Mediacom provides cable television for Keewatin under the direction of the Keewatin. They may be reached by calling toll free: 1-800-332-0245.

Dumpsters are available for use. The cost is $65.95 for one dump. Please call City Hall to have a dumpster delivered to your residence.  Please call the City Hall when it is ready to be dumped and we will have them empty it on Wednesday.
